An Operating System is the fundamental software which controls a PC. It handles the way your hardware behaves, the communication with peripheral devices like a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between various applications, plus the prioritization of applications in case multiple ones run concurrently. Each program that is installed on a computer system works by sending requests to the OS for various services using an application program interface (API). The communication with the OS can be done via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting field, the OS is what commands a web server along with all the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also any other application for instance a VOIP or a game server. In case there are virtual machines created, they use a guest OS that runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer you as many as 3 different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs out there and we offer all three of them rather than just 1 as we realize that you might want to set up some software that has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it will run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there're different software applications you may install on the web hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you would like to use one and for that reason we offer several Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you need to have some other OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you want. In addition, we offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

In case you decide to buy one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page as we want to give you a broader choice with regard to the system environment on your server as different applications may have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and enjoy a stable and secure Internet hosting service. Depending on your decision, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System if the one you've selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also update your OS routinely in order to keep it as secure as possible with our Managed Services upgrade package.
