An access log is a complete list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a particular site. Every single file that was requested for some reason will be listed, so if you have just one page with 3 embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for every of the 6 files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the page. A log usually contains the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s Operating System, web browser and IP address. In some cases you could also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to write reports on the overall performance of a website, independent of the web stats that your hosting server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Web Hosting

Our custom Hepsia CP has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your cloud web hosting account and take a look at this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that will be available next to every domain/subdomain. In case the option is active, you shall see a download link together with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and view it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect immediately, so if you no longer require one, you can stop it with only a mouse click from the same section of the Control Panel. You'll still be able to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it won't take more than a few mouse clicks to enable the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The feature could be permitted from the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this can be done individually for each domain name or subdomain which you have within your account. Whenever you log in and go to the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you will discover a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. One click shall activate the log generation and another one shall deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great comfort. A Download link inside the same section will allow you to save the generated content as a text file, which you can then use on your PC. Even if the logs are disabled, you shall still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
